Throughout my life, I’ve always asked myself two questions: Do I go forward or do I go back? And the obvious answer is that I want to go forward and look ahead.
So, I always find myself something to do, either alone or with other people. I am never bored here! During the quarantine, my wife and I listened to music, did crosswords, called our loved ones more often than usual. I play pranks on the phone and I enjoyed making people around me laugh.
Our life is slowly returning to normal and my greatest pleasure is being able to see the people we’ve had fun with, to see the members of my golf and pétanque workshops, and the Sélection Laval staff who have done so much for us. They invited singers to save us from boredom and organized a range of activities… We really felt they were here for us.
One of the things I missed the most was going out for a walk very early in the morning and chatting with people I would meet. I would often only return at the end of the day for dinner because time passed so fast! Walking keeps me in good shape.
It’s my ability to adapt that has allowed me to appreciate the good things in life and to live in the present. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring so we might as well make today the best day possible.
