Can I decorate my apartment?

Yes, this is your home! However, certain standards are in effect in our residences. A more detailed explanation is provided in the Residents Welcome Guide. Your rental advisor will give you a copy when you arrive.

Residents can rest assured that all currently operational Sélection Retraite facilities have a certificate of compliance for seniors’ residences. This means that they meet all the criteria set out in government regulations concerning the basic rights of residents, communications between the company and residents, health and safety, nutrition, medication and liability insurance.

Am I free to invite friends or family over?

Yes. You can invite your friends, children or grandchildren to visit any time. After all, this is your home!

Am I obligated to participate in activities?

Everyone is invited to participate in the activities, but no one is obligated. It’s up to you whether you’d prefer to relax at home, socialize occasionally with other residents or regularly share your time with others. Residents are not only invited to participate in activities, but are also welcome to help organize them.

What kind of group activities are organized?

We offer something for everyone, including activities at the residence or off site. From sporting activities to intellectual pursuits, cultural outings or pure relaxation, Sélection Retraite proposes a wide range of options to suit all energy levels and interests.

What other services are available on site?

There’s no need to go out into the rain, wind or snow to get what you need. Essential services are all conveniently located just steps away from your apartment. You don’t even have to step outside! Hair salon, library, convenience store, housekeeping and even religious services—we’ve got it all. Plus, our residences are strategically located to ensure easy access to public transit, churches, medical centres, pharmacies, banks, dry cleaners, etc. You’ll always be close to whatever you need!

Are healthcare services available on site?

Yes. Most of our facilities have nursing staff available every day of the week during business hours. Please refer to your residence’s data sheet for more information.

If my health deteriorates, will I be able to stay at Sélection Retraite?

Most Sélection Retraite residences cater to clients who are able to live independently. An assessment of your health is necessary to understand your needs and determine whether we can provide you with the services you require. If necessary, an agreement can be made with the local CLSC, where personnel can administer the right level of care to you. Some of our residences offer progressive care units to accommodate individuals who are losing their autonomy.

Am I eligible for the Quebec government tax credit?

People aged 70 and up may be eligible for a tax credit if they meet certain criteria. Tax credits are given on a percentage of eligible expenses related to home care services. If you’re eligible, your residence will handle all the paperwork. For more information on the Quebec government’s tax credit program, please visit the Revenu Québec website.

What is included in my rent?

Every apartment comes with a variety of conveniences, such as heating, electricity, cable television and emergency call systems. Our fact sheets explain the characteristics of each apartment in greater detail. Other features, like air-conditioning or housekeeping, can be added for an additional cost.

At Sélection Retraite, you have free access to all the common areas in your residence. You can also participate in weekly activities, most of which are offered at no cost. A wide range of other services is also available.

For added comfort and peace of mind, we ensure that qualified staff is on site 24 hours per day, with nursing staff available seven days a week. Most of our facilities also include a medical centre, pharmacist’s counter and more!

Can I afford an apartment at Sélection Retraite?

Before you can answer this question, you need to determine what your expectations are. What size apartment are you looking for? Sélection Retraite’s units range from studios to two-bedroom apartments, and costs vary in accordance with the size of the space. To make an informed decision on what you need, please meet with one of our advisors.

If you are aged 70 or over, you may be eligible for a tax credit from the Quebec government. Tax credits can help offset fees and give you access to services at a lower cost.

Can I come home at any time of the night?

There is no curfew at Sélection Retraite, nor is access restricted during the night. You are free to come and go as you see fit.
